Revelation 21

The New Jerusalem

"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."

He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son".


John saw the great city of heaven come down, the heavens and earth passed away.
Prepared as a bride for her husband adorned, it's beauty no words can portray,
John saw the great city, coming down out of heaven in the sky,
he heard a voice saying, I will wipe all the tears from their eyes,
they'll be no more crying, no sorrow. no pain. no one shall die.
these words are true and faithful (God's word ever living)
New Jerusalem city on high.


Words to "John saw the great city" a song we have sang at church since long before I was born! I wrote that entirely by memory. Not bragging, just saying that to show you what memorization of songs/scriptures can do for you! They really do stay with you and become part of you! Because of that song, I can say this verse almost completely from memory! It is amazing to be able to say scriptures out loud to yourself and your children. I cannot even begin to tell you the peace that comes over me when I say scripture out loud. Amazing. As I read the inspired WORD OF GOD today, tears streamed down my face as I came to this passage and I begin to whisper it as I read..

If you don't already memorize scripture, try it! It's so powerful and amazing what saying scripture can do for you!! :)
