fasting & praying...
After I get through with this post, I am going to do something that I have never done before. I am going to fast while praying for my husband. I am going to do this all day today until late tonight. I will see where I am going from there. I am not going to eat sweets or use the internet all day.
Specifically, here are the things I am praying about:
*For a CLEAR breakthrough (answer from God) about work
*For some clear answers and guidance with some tough financial issues
*Relief from Charlie's HUGE stress level that comes from the above reasons
*My parenting (my frustration and anxiety and anger)
*Just fasting and praying for some clarity in our lives!!
I was not brought up to fast. I really know very little about it but I have always thought it worth a try. When you read of the Old Testament prophets and of their dedication to the ways of God it just blows you away. And they didn't just give up silly things like sweets and the internet! I figure if they can fast for weeks on end, then I can surely do it for a day!!! :)
(Mat 6:16-18 NNAS) ""Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 17 "But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face 18 so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you."
I am not telling you this to brag or be boastful because, "Hey, look at how holy I am! I am FASTING for my husband!" No. I am telling you because I believe it may help you. It may give you an idea that you had not thought to try in your marriage!
So, if you decide to do this, let me know so I may encourage you! And, please pray for me.. this may not seem tough but it is. I need to devote myself completely to this and it's just very hard to focus my attention on praying as I need to. I do have many other things going on so today is just going to be interesting! Please pray.
